Memorial weekend has already come and gone and for the joy of those who care about our day to day events, here’s what we did with our three days off.
Friday night we went and saw Shrek the Third with friends. A good time was had by all if I do say so. We met for happy hour at DragonFish and ordered too much food as usual. Then we ventured over to the Meridian 16 theaters and got our tickets and took our seats just in time for the previews to begin. I force fed candy to everyone and we made plans to see Transformers in July. Shrek the Third was funny but definitely not as good as the first two. This is one I’d recommend to others to wait and see as a rental. It’s worth seeing but not at full price.
Saturday started off with a blast – I woke up early and got the house and my paperwork ready for a meeting. I whipped up some fruit dip and though I left it in the fridge a little too long (it was a bit stiff) not a bit of it was left after our three hours was up! I love summer fruit – strawberries and grapes are a great combo.
After my meeting was over we debated about what we should work on. It was a beautifully sunny day and we really should have thrown on shorts and gone out back to work on the yard. Instead we rented three movies, drew the blinds and worked on our laptops until midnight. We figured there would be time for work outside on another day. We watched The Guardian, Children of Men and Bobby – all three of which I recommend to those who haven’t seen them. Children of Men was a little weird and when it ended I was left with the feel of “so what” but it was an interesting story. I fell asleep while we watched Bobby but that’s not surprising. Hubby really liked it and I re–watched the second half on Monday and agree. The Guardian has great special features on the DVD, I like these kind of action, hero movies so this one was a no–brainer for me.
Sunday morning I was beginning to lose steam. I took my box of jobie paperwork over to a friend’s house for a committee meeting. We met from 10 until 2 and got a lot done. We also had yummy food which is the key to any successful meeting. After I got home I took a two hour nap while hubby worked in the garage. He’s got his future work area all hooked up with outlets. I think there’s 8 in total so once the space is finished LOOK OUT! He’ll be wired up with all kinds of gadgets. We headed down south around 5:30 to have dinner with friends. It was really fun hanging out with them. It’s been a while since we’ve seen them that hasn’t been during a party with a bunch of other people around. We got to play with their little girl for a little bit and as we were getting dinner ready we played “who do you love more” by holding out pieces of cheese and fruit to see what she’d walk towards to eat. I think the green grapes were the overall winner. We had bomb diggity burgers, complete with BBQ sauce and talked about our plans for the relay for life event at the end of June. We also tried to come up with as many names for our team’s acronym PNT… most of which I should leave un–said.
Monday was the laziest of all days. I managed to get out of bed at 9:30 and left hubby to sleep while I shuffled around the living room moving papers and planning what I was going to accomplish for the day. The end result was about 10 hours of napping and sleeping and not a whole lot else. I rotate the laundry quite a bit and worked on my laptop but I didn’t get nearly as much done as I would have liked. Hubby made huge progress on some of his websites and began the pageant program.
And just like that the long weekend is over and we’re back to our semi–normal routine. Most nights this week will be full of laptop work. I have a bit of jobie work to accomplish and hubby is working away on websites as well as the program for the pageant. Hopefully we’ll make some time for yard work, we need to get things cleaned up and ready for his big party in a couple weeks!
