After revisiting my ambitious goals of things to accomplish while hubby is away, I attacked Day 2 with gusto. I woke up late this morning, totally wiped out but the thought of having tomorrow off for 4th of July keeps me going.
On Tuesday after work I went to 4 of the 9 stores I have returns to take back. It felt great watching the bag in the trunk get more and more empty after each stop. The only downside is now I have a bunch of gift cards for the places that couldn’t put the money back on our credit cards. We’ll have to have a gift card weekend sometime and spend all the old gift cards we have. I still have cards from 2006! I don’t know what my problem is, I have them in my wallet all the time but half the time I forget to pull them out when I’m buying something and the other half I can’t find anything I’d want to buy regardless of having a gift card to spend. I guess there could be worse worries in the world.
After my returns I bought some groceries and returned home for my evening plan of scrubbing the master bathroom walls. First I dug into my returns treat of a cherry creamsicle popsicle. Yummy! Finally around 8:00pm I was working on the bathroom walls. It was three trips between the updstairs bathroom and garage downstairs for the right sized tools to remove everything off the walls (towel bar, light panel, etc.) I got everything taken down and created my bucket of TSP mixture and began scrubbing. And I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed. I’m glad our bathroom is so tiny, though maybe a bigger room with less corners wouldn’t take as long. I took a few breaks to rotate laundry and do the dishes but I finally stopped at 11:00pm. I couldn’t go on. Washing three of the four walls has made me realize a few things:
1) I’m out of shape and didn’t realize how weak I’ve become. I mean washing walls shouldn’t be that exhausting!
2) I’m really getting old, my knees will tell you as much.
3) Saying “I’m going to paint the bathroom” and actually painting the bathroom are two different things. At least this time I was mentally prepared for the 20 hours of pre-work before the fun of painting actually begins.Tonight my goal (among other things) is to finish the wall scrubbing and tape off the edges. This in itself will be a challenge since hubby has done all the taping for any other painting project we’ve done in our house. We’ll see how I do flying solo!
