Somehow I got off my count of days that hubbs is away, I believe yesterday was really day 4… so I’ll go with that. Day 4 without hubby was a relaxing one. On Wednesday my intentions of getting up early and putting my day off to good use was thwarted by the soft pillows and comforter I was snuggling with.
I finally got out of bed at 10:00 am with enough time to eat a bowl of cereal, take a shower and get ready, pack a small picnic lunch and head out to a friend’s house. I went for a picnic with friends at the Seattle Outdoor Sculputre Park and it was GEORGEOUS out. We sat on the soft grass in the sun and breeze and chatted away a few hours while we ate. I swear the grass was made out of terry cloth. I wanted to rip out a big section and take it home for our browning lawn. I could have stayed there all day. Around 2:00 I parted ways with the crew as they headed off for a fun day of downtown adventures. I headed back up to Lynnwood to water down my front lawn and shrubs and prepare for the bunkering down and defence of my house against the war zone that would take place in the street as soon as night fell. While waiting for the time to pass I organized our painting supplies and went to Lowe’s to get paint for the master bathroom. Lowe’s had their $5 off a gallon of paint sale so I had to make sure to take advantage of that! Once back home it was around 6:00 and I finished scrubbing the bathroom walls. Again, I don’t know why washing walls makes me feel so old – clearly I am very out of shape. I took a break to make some sun tea and drink water while the tea cooked in the sun on our deck. I also figured it was time for dinner so I had some bagel bites, which really is more of a snack than dinner but I was anxious to get back to the bathroom work. I cleaned up the mess of all the wall washing and stared at all the edges I’d be taping next. I began the job of taping the tiny bathroom and after 40 mins. I decided the tea must be ready to come in and so I took a long break drinking tea and letting the air conditioner cool off the upstairs bath and bedroom. By the time I finished taping off the bathroom it was beginning to get dark outside so I decided to not begin the priming even though I was itching to paint. I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish it all before it was dark, so better to wait and leave that for tomorrow. I retired to the living room for the evening, uploading cds to itunes and watching Pirates of the Caribean. Twice I went outside to make sure the bottle rockets that had landed in our front yard weren’t going to set our brown wonder on fire. Hubby surprised me with a phone call and we talked until 11:00. I went to bed in the freshly made soft wonder from heaven and fell asleep to the sound of fireworks. Twice I woke up because the crackers were so loud. I fell back asleep without trouble but boy am I dragging this morning! Thursday’s plan is to prime the entire master bathroom. Wish me luck!
