For the first time in several years we didn’t go out to brunch for Easter. We decided to stay in and cook for ourselves which meant PARTY! My sister’s visit is well underway and we had a blast hosting a slew of family for brunch. We tried to pick a selection of dishes that wouldn’t be TOO much work but would still look fancy like the people we know we are.
Hubby and I ready to enjoy the food.
The kids get started a little early. (Miles still has bows in his hair from wanting to be like his cousin)
Our cutie little parfaits.
We served french toast, bacon and breakfast potatoes plus a selection of fruits, meats and cheese and veggies. Kerry brought awesome carrot cake cupcakes and Nana brought a divine coffee cake. It was a feast for sure!
My sister made adorable little favor baskets for everyone to take home.
After everyone brunched for a while we sent part of our group out to take the kids for a walk so the Easter bunny could come by the back yard for a visit.
The eggs were hidden, the baskets were stashed and all we needed were our little tots. But where the heck did they go? Turns out a walk down the street and back became an expedition. Among other things Graham decided he was going to walk backwards most of the way back so it took a looooong time for them to make it back to the house.
Nana and her boys.
But once they were FINALLY in the back yard it was off to the races. I was quite surprised the boys got into the egg hunt. We had done a hunt just a few weeks earlier and both lost interest after a few eggs.
This time around they both filled their baskets.
Check over there!
Nora finds her basket.
Nora got grass all over the grass.
The boys were running all over the yard, excited to find the eggs and plop them in their basket.
Go go go!
Got another one!
Graham and Nora scoping out their loot (well Graham was checking Nora’s basket anyway).
Miles squirreled himself away at one point and sat behind the slide climber so he could go through his eggs in peace.
Graham starting to feel his sugar rush.
Tim helps with the inspection.
It was such a perfect day. A little hectic, a lot of work but just the way every family get together should be. Little Miss and her Mommy will be here for another week and a few days (they’re sending Daddy home soon) and I’m excited to share more time with them.
Happy Easter everyone!
