At the beginning of April the boys turned three. Their birthday fell on a Wednesday which was just another day of the week for us but with family in town we decided to make it a bit more special.
The boys got to open some birthday cards in the morning.
Thanks for the cards Great Aunt Nancy!
We packed up our crew and drove downtown to meet Daddy for a long lunch break. The weather held out for us and we grabbed our usual play date buddies which made for a fun outing.

The boys have been curious about the monorail for a while and have asked to ride it each time we would go downtown. The timing never seemed right so we made sure to make it the big part of our day. It turned out to be a really fun birthday event for them.
The boys with their cousin got a seat right up front.
Our regular buddies were along for the ride too. It was quite the field trip with seven adults and seven kids.
We rode the monorail from the Seattle Center House to Westlake Shopping Center and stayed on for the ride back. The driver played along and talked with the boys while the direction switch was happening. He even let Graham honk the horn – which was surprisingly loud for a train that is off the normal streets and gets no cross traffic.
Graham was over the moon!

It was still a little early for lunch so when we made it back to the Center House, Armory for lunch we hung out a bit, rode the elevator and checked out some of the free sites.
Like the oversized chess and checkers games.
Seven kids had a great time running through all the pieces.
We walked around, figured out what everyone wanted for lunch and finally settled in to the kid tables and had some food.
While us parents finished our lunches the boys had fun chasing each other around and enjoyed some rounds of dog piles on each other.

Thanks for such a great day everyone! Our just another Wednesday turned into a really fun outing.
