Our great friend Tim decided to mix things up this year and rented a cabin for a weekend for his birthday. I was so stoaked to jump on the opportunity to hang out with great friends, meet some new people and have two nights away from the kids. And luckily for us Nana and Papa were available for free babysitting (we’re so spoiled).
It wasn’t really a cabin per say so much as an awesome house in the Suncadia development near Cle Elum.
There wasn’t much on the agenda other than eating and hanging out. We had a group of eleven and folks split up the meal and snack duties so the work was spread around. We dined like rock stars!
Hanging out and watching a movie.
Time with my girls.
Late night cards.
More lounging while the grill was getting a work out.
After staying up late, sleeping in late and eating an awesome breakfast and lunch we headed into town for a bit of shopping.
Then it was back to the house for more lounging, snacking, watching a movie or two and then most of the group went out to hot tub in the chilly snowy weather. The drinks were flowing and our margarita maker got a workout.
Kerry organized our awesome dinner for the night. I don’t know the official name but they were fancy pork tacos with grown up ingredients like cotija cheese and cilantro lime rice.
I snagged this beauty shot from the stairs, check out that buffet!
I even painted my nails which is a total luxury for me.
We headed out late Sunday morning and road tripped home with Kerry. She introduced us to the Triple XXX Rootbeer Drive-in in Issaquah for a lunch and my life will never be the same. They had a sign out front that says Nothing They Serve Inside Is Good For You. And being pregnant I fully embraced it.
Our welcoming home was amazing, Nana had totally transformed our house into a spotless model home and the boys were over the moon excited to be reunited with Mommy and especially Daddy.
There was all kinds of hugs, kisses, tickles and running around Daddy and jumping on him.
Nana even left us fresh cut flowers from her garden along with a note: “Beds are changed, clean dishes in dishwasher. Nice hotel but a bit noisy. I think there were children upstairs!”
It was an amazing weekend with some awesome people and just the restful break Joel and I needed after a busy month.
Happy Birthday Tim!
