We had a great weekend coming down from the high of hearing the news that our baby on the way is a GIRL. We had dinner in on Friday night and enjoyed time playing with the boys. On Saturday we worked on some chores and went out to a friends’ one year old birthday party. Getting through the first year of a new baby is such a milestone and I’m glad we got to help our friends celebrate. The boys did great at the party and they were the oldest kids there. There were three other babies there for them to watch out for, not step on and let them take toys away instead of pulling back. It makes me more confident that they’ll both be great big brothers.
Saturday night Nana and Papa come over to treat us with dinner and enjoy time with the boys. It was such a fun evening and it was a great break to have someone else in charge of a meal for everyone.
Sunday was pretty low key, I took Miles with me to the mall to do some shopping and Joel took over the duties when I returned too pooped to do anything else. He got them off to their nap and then went outside and worked in the yard while I rested on the couch. We had a great time Sunday night catching up with a bunch of friends. There were a couple families that couldn’t make it to the boys’ birthday party so we set up a casual pizza night at our house to see everyone. We had seven adults and five kids and it was such a fun time. Graham and Miles got a little wild with all the excitement. I still don’t know the best way to handle getting them to sit down and eat when we have a party – they get so worked up that we can’t get them to focus and then they get cranky because they haven’t eaten (even with several attempts to get them to take bites after everyone is away from the table). Hopefully this is just a phase but it is a bit annoying and frustrating to not know the best way to tackle the problem.
Sunday night we get our little wiggle monsters off to bed and while they crashed quickly, I rested on the couch researching doulas while Joel did ALL the kitchen clean up. He left me with a sparkling kitchen to start off our sunny Monday morning. What a treat!
