The last three weeks has been a load of fun time with family with a bit of chaos mixed in. We’re three weeks into successful potty training and I’m happy to report (and hoping not to jinx things) that I’ve only had to clean up one or two poop accidents. Although I’m pretty sure Daddy and Grandma have had to deal with others. But. Pretty good considering the amount of stress and dread I was giving the whole deal.
I’m getting further along in my pregnancy and with recent hiccups in my health I’ve let some of the daily routines and chores slide. Thank goodness I have so much help from my family.
But alas there are days where rooms look like this and I just leave it be for another day.
I’ve never been the best house keeper but I do pride myself on having some kind of organization system to every room of the house. So, it’s been mentally hard for me to give myself a physical break and just let messes be for another day’s work. Getting up and down off the floor is getting harder and harder and a project like reorganizing the playroom which used to be a fifteen minute task is now broken into several short trips over a couple of days.
I also haven’t been as diligent with naughty step or getting down at the boys’ level and helping them with their emotions, which leads to extra tantrums.
But hopefully things will get easier again after the baby arrives, and so much harder in a lot of other ways I’m sure.
The boys have enjoyed some great afternoons at Nana and Papa’s house. And as the weather gets nicer they’re having all kinds of fun outside.
Here they were running weed clippings from Nana’s garden to the compost bin. A good help and great way to wear them out for afternoon naps!
One minor note in the household. We had to say goodbye to our dear Easter balloon which had a very long run in our house. Floating from room to room and being a good play pal with all the kids who came through our door. Alas it was finally was on it’s last leg and one day at nap time I put it out of it’s misery and sent it off to the balloon farm.
We’ve had some fits of extra crazy behavior lately. I don’t know if it’s been all the excitement of extra time with family, perhaps some growth spurts or the milestones of potty training and all the talk of “baby sister” that will be arriving soon. But there’s been a handful of days where I pull Graham out of their room to nap in the extra bedroom in a pack and play. They just get so riled up that after an hour they’re still yelling and acting like crazy people.
So into the pack and play and out like a light he goes.
Things should be a bit quieter over the next couple of months. I hope to get back into the swing of things and I have a bunch of stuff to catch up on. I still haven’t reported on our couples’ vacation to the Dominican Republic back in May! And I’m sure you’re anxious to hear more details about our adventures in potty training. Stay tuned!
