Graham and Miles are in full preparation mode to become big brothers. We’ve been working hard to involve them in the process of getting ready for sister’s arrival as well as giving them special outings and one on one time to help with their transition into big brotherhood.
Graham and I have to modify our snuggly time since my belly takes up the whole couch when I’m laying on my side. We’re managing though.
We took a class at the hospital for the boys to “learn to become big brothers”. It was kind of silly but it gave them a chance to tour the maternity center of the hospital and to spend some time as a family thinking about what it will be like to have a newborn baby around.
We’ve had time with friends for special attention and projects. They got to build boats with Aunt Kerry and Zandra. Who knew that Kerry would be the one to get the messiest with the paint?
And I’ve had Nana’s help with babysitting them one at a time so I could do special afternoons with them one on one. I took Miles to the Playdate Cafe in Lynnwood which was timed perfectly because we had almost the whole place to ourselves.
Undivided train table time.
The next day while Miles was with Nana I took Graham down to Edmonds for a walk around town, a stop to get a special donut and then grocery shopping.
Edmonds Bakery is really cute, they have cookie jars all over their walls and it was fun pointing them out and talking about them with Graham.
Miles loves giving baby sister hugs and kisses and will often include that in our bedtime routine or when I’m about to leave the house to run errands.
And a few pictures of the “party preparations” the boys did when I was away at a doctor’s appointment one afternoon.
Nana had them down for naps when I got back but she said the boys wanted the couches left alone so I could see their hard work.
Pretty good party decorations don’t you think?
Last weekend we did a family outing to Alki Beach which was another trip where Joel had to do 99% of the work. I sat in a chair while Joel took them to and from the water and on trips to the bathroom.
Time to fill our buckets with water!
My big guy Miles.
And back from the water again.
And later that night it was time for using all our new Amazon delivery boxes for rowdy playtime.
It was impossible to get a clear shot once the largest box was turned into a speed boat complete with a ride on a blanket from Daddy.
