I’ve been getting back into reading (a little bit) and have come across some wonderful articles lately about motherhood, parenting and the highs and lows of it all. It has me realizing how I’d like to restart a habit of making time for myself and interests outside of my three littles (like plucking my eyebrows and blogging). I find when I have a break or time away I can come back more refreshed and happy to be around them, more patient and willing to work with them through the turmoils of toddlerhood.
A hot silent shower can be just the retreat you need to get the spit up off your arm and the wave of “Mommeeeeeeeeee”s out of your ear.
Today at 1:30 I did just that. I got a break. Okay Alice was in a bouncer seat batting at toys and squealing at me waving on the other side of the glass door, but still, it was a break. A fresh change of clothes and I’m back to my day.
If you’re looking for some inspiration to get you through the throws of toddler town I highly recommend reading this piece by Megan Morton at Your Best Nest. http://yourbestnestindy.com/2014/02/27/mommy-somebody-needs-you/
Perhaps it could be just the thing to get you through another day. Or maybe the next hour….
Graham is currently singing:”There were three in the bed and the little one said, ‘Roll over, roll over’ so they all rolled over and MILES fell out.”
Miles screams from his quiet time spot: “Noooo Graham, I don’t want you to do that!”
