After Joel being out of town for a week on a work trip, then a five day visit with my sister’s family followed by hosting 14 of our extended family for an afternoon to celebrate Father’s Day and the latest birthdays (Joel’s birthday was on Father’s Day) we’re finally coming back down to reality and getting ready to be on summer break.
We had such a wonderful time with my parents, my sister, brother-in-law and niece. It’s was exhausting and crazy at times but filled with so many moments of the kids playing together and enjoying time as a family. We’re so lucky to have family that can come visit us more often than just for Christmas.
Here’s a few of our highlights. It was so nice to just put the phones down and be in the moment with the kids, luckily my sister and mom snagged a few good pictures to remember the trip.
Mom set up an outdoor painting activity one of the days. At this age you spend more time doing set up and clean up than the kids actually spend on the activity but we had fun regardless.
I loved watching Jeanie with Alice. She’d snag her out of her jumperoo or the play yard and read a book or crawl with her. Alice got a lot of great Auntie time.
Nora enjoying a caterpillar crawling on her arm.
Grandma keeping us all happy!
More Auntie time.
Nothing is as fun as exploring a rental car.
We enjoyed two days at Thornton A Sullivan park. There’s a large playground area as well as beach access to the lake. We had fun digging and wading in the water.
Sisters at the park
Luckily we didn’t have to dive in to save anyone from going too deep.
Too cool for school
The whole crew devouring the tote bags full of food we brought. It took a lot of space to feed 8 people!
A couple fun pictures of Miles.
The Dads got into Gak play with the kiddos.
My lovely niece and I with our matching skinned knees.
Now it’s back to doing our own dishes, taking care of our own chores and staying in after the kids are in bed. Luckily we have a few more get togethers planned over the summer.
