Yesterday I was solo parenting all day from breakfast to bedtime. Add on a pumpkin patch field trip with preschool in the drizzle wind and it was a looooong day. No breaks from the boys and fall weather kept us inside for two thirds of the day.
But I made it.
And I kept my cool. For the most part.
In between bottle feeding Alice while she was strapped to me during the hay ride and trying to keep the boys’ butts on their bales of hay I managed to get a couple of pictures to document our outing.
Graham had a loud time trying to help everyone find some where to sit and then spent quite a while trying to get two of his female classmates to move apart so he could sit between them. It was pretty funny. (And the other Mom’s thought it was cute so they facilitated things and Graham was holding hands with two girls by the end of it all.)
We came back home drenched from the knees down and muddy so we stripped down to sweatpants and had some hot chocolate. Alice went down for a nap and the rain continued on. BUT by 3pm we were all climbing the walls so I pulled out the big guns.
With rain keeping us from running around outside I turned to forts and an indoor trampoline to get out the wiggles.
Alice even had her own fort and giggled and gigged as she crawled through.
By 4pm I was checking the clock every ten minutes wondering if 4:30pm was too early for dinner followed by a 6pm bedtime. BUT we made it. Alice went to bed at 7pm and the boys were hearing their bedtime stories at 8pm when Daddy arrived home.
Whew! What a day!
